Helping Hands Program continues to show great results

Each summer St. Mary’s offers an innovative program for children with hemiplegia – partial paralysis caused by injury to the brain. The Helping Hands program is a summer project that offers children intensive therapy 5-6 hours per day, with age-appropriate play and adaptive skills practice. The program utilizes Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT), a proven treatment method that focuses on restraining a child’s unaffected arm or leg in a cast or mitten, which drives him or her to use the weaker one during a succession of kid-friendly and engaging exercises in a camp-like environment.

WWE Superstars Surprise St. Mary's Kids

WWE Superstars Dean Ambrose and WWE Diva Renee Young visited St. Mary’s Hospital for children recently to surprise the young patients. The high-energy afternoon included visits to each patient floor and plenty of one on one time for the kids to meet some of their favorite wrestlers. Dean and Renee took time to sign autographs and take photos with the children. They also helped the children with a Heavyweight Title Belt coloring activity. Each child received their very own championship belt!

Summer Fun Round-Up at St. Mary's 

The summer break is over and it's back to school time for St. Mary's Kids. We're happy to share that this summer numerous groups and special friends came for visits to engage the children in high-energy indoor and outdoor recreation and activities. These groups included Camp T.L.C (Together Living a Challenge) an “on the move” performing and creative arts camping program, The MLT foundation, and a special visit from animals from a Petting Zoo.
