Tips for Team Leaders
Here are some helpful tips to help Team Leaders be successful...
Give your team a great name that is meaningful to you.
Invite people to join your team - family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, business colleagues...
Invite children too! Kids love to help kids - and they are great fundraisers. Think lemondade stand!
Personalize your Team Page, upload your address book, send emails, post pictures and watch your team’s contributions grow.
Set a fundraising goal for your team – and be the first to donate to set an example. Ask everyone to match or exceed your donation!
Recruit team sponsors - start with folks at your bank, gym, cleaner, hair salon, and supermarket
Be sure to thank everyone who helps - team mates, sponsors, and especially the children!
Double what you raise! Ask your employer for help through a matching gift program
Every day, tell at least 1 person about the Walk for St. Mary’s Kids and ask that person for a contribution.
Plan team Pep Rallies, t-shirt decorating events, a bake or a car wash - have fun and raise funds and friends!
In the last two weeks send updates to ALL team members - try to send one every day. You can include Walk news, team contribution updates, team plans for the day. Talk it up, and remember it’s about raising funds for the kids & having fun!
Share your team’s “Why We Walk” story with St. Mary’s Communications team and we’ll send it to your local hometown newspapers to generate publicity. Send it to j.kunz@stmaryskids.org.
